That tripod ring is extr...</title><content type='html'>It is good that you ask.  That tripod ring is extremely good with the Tamron lens.  I bought it based on my findings that it works with Pentax FA* 300mm f/4.5 and I hope it works with my F* 300mm f/4.5.  It doesn&amp;#39;t work on my F* 300mm as it is a bit bigger than the len barrel.  With the Tamron, it is a bit tight but still manage to close down for a tight fit.  The tripod actually help me to stabilize my use with the heavy lens in a strange way. I wish I have your muscular arms and I am all set for the heavier setup&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;@Somanna, though the lens is heavy, it is not too big.  It is roughly the size of the DA* 50-135mm with bigger filter size in 77mm.  But it is much heavier than the DA* zoom.
